Opposition to 2700 MW Lower Siang project

ITANAGAR, Oct 4: Section of people from Rumgong assembly constituency have vehemently opposed the construction of 2700 MW Lower Siang Hydro Power project, Bodak in East Siang district.

The people of Rumgong segment under the banner of Lower Siang Hydro Power Anti-Dam Project people discussed the merits and demerits of the Lower Siang project in a general interaction meeting held at Rumgong on Oct 2 and unanimously opposed the construction of 2700 MW project, the anti-dam peoples chairman said in a release today. The house also urged the member secretary of the State Pollution Control Board not to conduct the pre-planned public hearing scheduled to be held on Oct 18, 19, 21 at Jying, Rottung and Pessing circles respectively.

The house expressed its anguish and resentment over the Govt’s policy of land acquisition and relief and rehabilitation package ‘which is for the interest of the private power developer’ and strongly appealed the likely to be project affected people to fight unitedly to save and protect ancestral land and properties and not to spare an inch of land to any outsiders in Siang and Siyom valley under any circumstances.

It also urged upon the pro-dam activists to stop their movement ‘for the interest of power developer M/s Jai Prakash Associate limited at the earliest as their movement is likely to create law and order problem within the valleys’.

The release further informed that a general meeting is scheduled to be held at Pessing general football ground under Rumgong circle on Oct 14 and 15.

The joke making the rounds in the state capital is that one has to go through AICC in order to get in touch with the Congress legislators from Arunachal.

The joke is not devoid of truth. The power struggle within the party is so overwhelming that everyone is left wondering what exactly is happening within the party that calls itself a “family”. It’s so divided that one camp is in New Delhi while the other camp is in Itanagar!

Both obviously are out of touch with common citizens.

Even when some members of the other camp turned up from New Delhi for the Legislative assembly session, they camped at a hotel in Naharlagun. The other camp too was not far behind. They choose the Chief Minister’s residence as the meeting point.

The drama did not end there. As the legislative assembly session ended, citizens learnt that a minister was “kidnapped” and an MLA “abducted”.

Bizarre and incredible it may sound, but all these happened within the warring two factions of the Congress party.

In some other circumstances, we would not be bothered what happens to which camp but situation is such that we are left wondering why the party would not even try to figure out the differences for the sake of the citizens and the state. But then citizens never really figured in their schemes of things and it would be too romantic to even start thinking that they care about us.

In absence of an inquisitive media in the state, one has to read newspapers published from New Delhi and Guwahati to know about the political drama and power struggle in Arunachal Pradesh. More we read about allegations and counter allegations; we are left wondering why we elected a bunch of people who not only disrespect themselves but us as well. They are not only making a fool out of themselves, in the process they are dragging the whole of the state.

While the two factions ridicule themselves and us with one antic after another, one is pained at the absolute absence of governance. While yours truly respect inner party democracy within the Congress party but not at the cost of the people. It should not supersede the functioning of the state. We are today caught in a situation where the Congress’s supposed inner party democracy workings are affecting the governance and administration in the state.

As of now, it is unlikely that the All India Congress Committee will intervene. With the party facing one crisis after another at the centre, Arunachal obviously does not figure anywhere. Even if AICC does intervene, it is unlikely that we would see any change from what the state is currently undergoing.

On a lighter note, one must thank the Congress party in the state for giving us reasons to laugh because of their antics.

While we make a feeble attempt to laugh, yours truly is also pained at the same time at what is happening at the state because of the infighting within the “family” who we gave mandate to decide for us. Though some organizations and individual might make the most of the situations because of the problems within the Congress party, there is absolute and total disregard for the common citizens.

Dabii objects to Nyishi dignity rally

ITANAGAR, Oct 4: Government spokesman Tako Dabii today described the proposed mega Nyishi dignity rally by the NES-ANSU on October 7 next as ludicrous after all out efforts by the GoAP to resolve the ToI/Pradeep Thakur issue.

Home Minister Takar Marde had desired to explain the outcome of the two-member panel, but the NES-ANSU refused to attend the meeting in the absence of Chief Minister Jarbom Gamlin. However, at their desire a copy of the committee report was given to them ‘for their consumption but not for publication’, Dabii told a daily here.

Even if they have rejected the report, holding dignity rally or bandh repeatedly that creates fear psychosis among the capital dwellers is objectionable, Dabii said, adding if anything goes wrong the organizers would be wholly responsible for it, not the GoAP.

The GoAP is making all possible endeavours for unity and integrity of all tribes of the state besides working for their all round development, he said.

Therefore, Dabii hoped that the rally would not be carried out in the larger interest of the people.

Committee opposes Dignity Rally

ITANAGAR, Oct 4: Nyishi Consultative Committee (NCC) has opposed the proposed Mega Nyishi Dignity Rally “Itanagar Challo” called on October 7 by Nyishi Elite Society (NES) and All Nyishi Students Union (ANSU).

Addressing the media in a press conference held at Press Club today NCC Convenor TC Teli said that NES is misleading the people and the Pradeep Thakur’s case is a close chapter.

NCC while rejecting the Nyishi Dignity rally called for maintaining peaceful atmosphere particularly in state capital for the welfare of all communities of the state.

The NCC would organize a referendum rally at IG Park Itanagar on October 14 where the inquiry committee report of Pradeep Thakur case would be placed before the gathering for discussion.

“Thakur has already written an apology letter so entire Nyishi community can’t run after this case. Moreover the committee constituted by the government to pursue the matter has also submitted its reports, he added. He further said that after the formation of Nyishi Elite Society, it has played a pivotal role and contributed in numerous developmental activities of the society and the state. But the society is backsliding for the last few years and NES has failed to unite and take the confidence of each member of the community which resulted in formation of various Nyishi organizations.

NCC Chairman Talo Mugli said that “we have to maintain cordial relation with other communities of the state as the government is formed by all communities”.

Supporting Mugli’s words former Minister Tatar Kipa said that the government has constituted committee to find out the fact and accordingly the committee has submitted its report.

Former Minister MR Dodum appealed to the NES president Bengia Tolum to refrain from agitation and strike to topple the present government. Congress has 42 MLAs who will decide for themselves and we should not interfere in the state politics.

Nera Techi Tara said NES is being used by some people for their individual interest in the present political scenario of the state.

Former MLA Ngurang Pinch also said that the issue of ToI is politically motivated.

Call for action against OC, IRBn personnel

ITANAGAR, Oct 4: The Arunachal Pradesh Veterinary Association strongly condemned the incident where in Dr. B.M. Poddar, Senior Veterinary Officer (S.G), Roing on promotion to DVO (Khonsa) was allegedly physically assaulted by S. Lenka, OC Roing and three other IRBn personnel on the night of Sept17 at veterinary campus, Roing in front of his colleagues, staffs and his family members.

The APVA appealed to the concerned authority to initiate necessary disciplinary proceedings and appropriate action against OC, Roing and the IRBn personnel involved in the incident for their misuse of power and inhumane act.

The incident allegedly happened when a police team led by S.Lenka, OC Roing, came to the veterinary campus on receipt of report regarding a stabbing case, to which Dr. B.N.Poddar was an eye witness.

When he tried to brief the incident to the police team, instead of listening to him he was manhandled and physically assaulted by the OC and three other IRBn personnel, according to a statement by the association.

The Arunachal Pradesh Veterinary Association believes that our state police force is in good hands and is manned by sincere and dedicated officers, but for the misdeeds of few irresponsible officers and personnel’s they are sometimes in the limelight for bad reasons, it stated in a release.

Governor advocates bee keeping

ITANAGAR, Oct 4: Arunachal Pradesh Governor General JJ Singh visited the bee keeping garden of Sille Sericulture Farm, 26 km from Pasighat in East Siang district today. Accompanied by State First Lady Anupama Singh and senior district officials including East Siang Deputy Commissioner Talem Tapok, Governor also visited the honey processing unit.

General Singh, who has been emphasising on bee keeping as a vehicle to uplift the socio economic status of rural community said that with abundant conducive natural environment, Arunachal Pradesh can be the largest producer of organic Himalayan honey in the country. Interacting with the villagers, the Governor urged upon them to make Arunachal Pradesh the ‘Honey State of India’.

Encouraging the villagers and youth to take up the promising avenues of bee keeping, the Governor assured to facilitate in sending local farmers for exposure to Punjab, which is the largest honey producing State of India. He also proposed to invite senior advisors and experienced bee keepers to Arunachal Pradesh to aid and advise the local entrepreneurs.

Calling for proper bottling, General Singh said that the ‘Sille ka Honey’ should be so popular that it should become well accepted like that of ‘Mathura Ka Perah’.

The Governor advised the district administration to increase the cost of honey as it is pure and organic. A progressive farmer from Sille village, Anung Modi, who has taken up bee keeping, said that honey production is economically very viable in Arunachal Pradesh as with fifty bee colony boxes, an individual can earn more than two lakh rupees per annual. Impressed by commitment shown by the Governor, Modi requested him to use his good office to arrange exposure tours for the local farmers.

Earlier, Textile and Handicraft Assistant Director, Pasighat Taku Tath briefed the Governor on the honey production and other activities at the Sille project. He informed that the Bee Mission Project, Sille was established in the year 2008-09 and the raw honey processing machine was installed on May 2009. From 2008-09 to 2010, Apis Cerena (Indian bee) were reared and from 2011 onwards, Apis Melifera (Italian bee) which was brought from Punjab were introduced. The project has 1650 bee colonies, of which 115 are Apis Cerena and 50 are of Apis Mellifera. Since 2008-09, more than 5000 kg of raw honey were extracted, of which 1020 kg honey were processed. Trainings on bee keeping were regularly organised in the farm since its inception. More than 240 beneficiaries, including 30 villagers from Kurung Kumey district have availed such trainings.

Drawing attention of the Governor towards the constrains of the Bee Keeping Mission at Sille, Textile and Handicraft Assistant Director said that for proper functioning of the project, infrastructure such as RCC security fencing of the bee hives garden area, proper honey processing building, bee colony sheds to protect it from off season rains and training hall are required. Refresher courses for staff, a vehicle for shifting of colonies during off seasons, permanent staff for the project and farmers training cum exposure tours are some of the additional requirements, Tath added.

Earlier on his arrival at Pasighat, Governor interacted with the district heads of department and urged upon them to perform their duties with utmost sincerity and dedication as per plans and programmes. He also emphasised on good governance and to rise to the expectations of the people. General Singh advised them not to be distracted or deviate from the objective to achieve their predetermined targets.

The Governor met the GREF 44 Task Force Chief Engineer OP Arora at Pasighat, who briefed the former on the road projects under Project Brahmank.

Governor, who had earlier made aerial recce of the railway project from Naharlagun to Harmuty, advised the Task Force Chief Engineer to start working on double shifts to make up the lost time because of rainy season. General Singh also emphasised on timely completion of projects with quality.

During the day-long visit to East Siang district, the Governor and State First lady also interacted with the students, who turned up to receive them. The first couple who always sport indigenous attires advised them to work hard in the studies and said that they must grow and progress but always stay in touch with own culture and tradition.

MLA assures school infrastructure

ITANAGAR, Oct 4: Tali MLA Markio Tado has assured for construction of one (ST) girls hosted under NEC fund and one teachers quarters from BADP fund for Govt ME school, Pipsorang HQ during this financial year.

Expressing concern over the destruction of the infrastructure of Govt Middle School, Pipsorang by recent cyclone, the MLA also personally appealed the higher authorities of the education department to look into the matter seriously for immediate restoration of damaged school building. The school has been functioning without sufficient infrastructure for the last decade, Tado said and requested the grass root level panchayat leaders to place their grievances to the department concern for all possible help.

The MLA further informed that he always put emphasis on quality education and need of sufficient infrastructure for secondary school and ME schools under Tali and Pipsorang circle. As a result a project --- “infrastructure development of government secondary school and ME school under Tali circle, Kurung Kumey district amounting to Rs 404 lakh has been sanctioned on Sept 16, the MLA informed. The MLA said this is the first NEC scheme of its kind being sanctioned ever since the creation of the Tali Assembly constituency.

The MLA appealed all the panchayat leaders, students communities and general public to extend their support for all round development, particularly education sector under Tali and Pipsoram circle. Tado further urged upon the executing agencies to supervise and monitor implementation of works for noticeable development.

ITBP Central Team lift Dream Light Running Football Trophy

ITANAGAR, Oct 4: Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Central Football Team, Kimin lifted the Dream Light Running Football Trophy defeating Jubal Guri 1-0 in the final at Juba Nagar, North Lakhimpur, Assam on September 30 last.

Vipul Chandra, CT/GD scored the all important goal of the match.

Addressing on the occasion Rajesh Kumar Tomar, Commandant, 10th ITBP lauded the victorious team and coach of the central football team Inspector (General Duty) Vinod Kumar, for bringing laurel to the Force. He also expressed his satisfaction over the response shown by the people of the area towards the tournament and thanked all for its grand success.

The final match was enjoyed by various Govt. officials, political leaders village elders and local people.

Sixteen teams from Assam and Arunachal Pradesh participated in the tournament which was started on September 21 at Juba Nagar, North Lakhimpur, Assam.

AIQEC hold discussion on political crisis

ITANAGAR, Oct 4: The All India Qaumi Ekta Committee organized a meeting on the theme “Political Crisis in the State Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh” here today. The state and district level executive members of the committee took part in the discussion.

While initiating discussion on the topic, the members present observed that illegal bandh calls (strike) by various organizations affect the normal life of the common people. It hampers all the development activities of state Government.

Participating in the discussion, general secretary (Admn) of the committee and in-charge West Zone K K Yangfo opined that internal misunderstanding, if any, among the members of ruling party should be intimated to the High Command for immediate action.

The Chairman of the meeting, Demo Dada, president AIQEC state unit said, since the MLAs are the representatives of the general people, they must reciprocate and serve the common people.

Pointing out the increasing illegal activities in the state, the meeting felt that the administration remains motionless. The authority should take immediate steps for creation of conducive atmosphere for development and safety and security of the people, it said.

Organic meat and its benefit

The sedentary life style of the people in this millennium and their eating habit are really a matter of concern. Obesity and other new emerging diseases are affecting the health of the people and some of them are very fatal.

Meat is in one of the most heavily consumed food, especially in North-Eastern part of India and over 90 per cent of the total population of Arunachal Pradesh are also non vegetarians. However, now a days the people are very much health conscious too.

The growing fear of illness from disease like mad cow disease (Bovini Spongifoum anceph-alopahthy) and its link with creutzfeldt Takab's disease (CJD), improper food handling, pesticides, antibiotics and hormones put a big question. Moreover, concern over “Food Safety", the consumers are looking to new healthier options to feed their families. Now many people are discovering interesting fact of organic meat -- poultry, dairy and eggs. Normal meat may contain significant level of toxic which have potential to create disease and illness.

Constantly raised feed is generally modified, heavily treated with pesticides and the animals stone -- the residues in their fatty tissue. Like wise, the animal by-product also contains residues and harms the human heath when consumed.

Most of the developed countries have already adopted organic way of life and organic meat production. Choosing organic meat is good for the planet and the people.

Now the question may arise -- what is organic meat or food? The answer is simple. Organic food is produced by farmers which emphasize the use of renewable resources and the conservation of soil and water to preserve environment for future generations. And organic meat is obtained from animals or birds raised in the organic form.

Organic meat and its benefit:

Organic meat has many benefits over conventional meat. Organic meat can be found from organic chickens, organic beef etc. Regular meats such as beef are infected with hormones and also contain various chemical additions. In organic meat these chemicals are not present thus are less toxic to our body.

Many consumers of the organic meat say that taste of the meat is far better than conventionally produced meat. So by consuming eugenic meat you are also supporting the environment, since, there are no pesticide and no chemical used in the process.

Pregnant mothers who consume organic meat have a higher quality of breast milk. The breast milk is found to contain higher level of conjugated lanolin acid (CLA) which is an important nutrient for our health.

Organic chicken is more beneficial than other meats as it contains less fat and cholesterol level. The people who are suffering from heart diseases can consume organic chicken.

In short the organic meat has many benefits. So why not you try out for yourself and decide what should you eat.

Arunachal Pradesh with its vast land scope has potential to take up organic meat production in larger way.

ITBP’s goodwill gesture

ITANAGAR, Oct 4: 10th Bn. Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Kimin organized Meena Bazar, Sports competition and cultural programme on the occasion of Ghandhi Jayanthi celebration in its headquarter Kimin on October 2.

Events like three-leg race and tug of war, sack race etc were conducted for personnel and a musical chair competition was also organized for ladies. Programmes like cinematic dance, break dance, classical dance, skits, Nyishi folk dance were the other highlights of the programme.

Rajesh Kumar Tomar, Commandant, 10 Bn, ITBP said that ITBP along with local villagers is determined to serve the nation and looking forward for better co-operation in every field.

Prizes were distributed by the Commandant to those who performed well in the various competitions and events and also the best stalls.

Tomar said that this kind of programme fosters brotherhood and comradeship among all.

Various types of stalls were put up by unit personnel in Meena Bazar. Sports events and cultural programme were also organized. Apart from the ITBP personnel many local villagers along with their family members also participated in cultural programme and sports events with full spirit.

Hiejum Tangkanam

ITANAGAR, Oct 4: Screening of new Nyishi feature film Hiejum Tangkanam (Taste of Blood) was held at local theatre, Naharlagun on October 2 last.

The main artists of the film are Techi Lombu, Lukter Lumbi, Techi Mate, Takam Sangdeep, Maga Juri, Takam Pate and Techi Jinnia.

The film show was attended by RGU deputy registrar Dr. Tana Showren, ACC general secretary ACC, Bengia Ciciela, secretary, art and culture NES and ANSU general secretary Arjun Panye.

Sports meet at Daporijo

ITANAGAR, Oct 4: Arunachal Vikas Parishad Upper Subansiri Unit conducted district Level sports and games meet at Daporijo on Oct 1 and 2 last.

Around 200 selected players from 11 circles participated in the sports meet and cultural dance competition. Giba circle won the overall championship.

Nine cultural troops participated in the dance competition. Former Minister Talom Mugli who inaugurated the meet lauded the services of AVP. He further stated that lots of political will is necessitated to promote sports in Arunachal Pradesh and thereby allowing the much talented youngsters to perform in this field. He also advised the youths to preserve the cultural identity intact.

Kojin lead India team at World event

ITANAGAR, Oct 4: The Indian gymnastics team led by Gymnastic Federation of India (GFI) vice president Nani Kojin is leaving for Japan tomorrow to take part in the 43rd World Artistic Gymnastics Championships slated at Tokyo during October 7-16 next.

Kojin, who is the first Arunachalee to be elected as a vice president to a national level sports body on July 30 last, told over telephone from New Delhi that 80 countries would take part in the global event being hosted by Federation Internationale de Gymnastique.

The latest update to the entry list features a total of 532 competitors (288 men and 244 women) from 80 different countries. There are 24 teams in both the men’s and the women’s competitions, all of whom qualified at the 2010 World Championships in Rotterdam (NED), he said.

Kojin, who is Arunachal Pradesh Gymnastics Association (APGA) president said all the participants are in good spirits and expected do well for the country.

Org demands arrest

ITANAGAR, Oct 4: The president of Arunachal Pradesh Abo Tani Clans Youth Organization (APATCYO) Kame Kipa was attacked by a miscreant at Naharlagun on Oct 2 night, said its general secretary in a release today.

While condemning the attack, the organization demanded the home department to arrest the culprit within 15 days. The miscreant also damaged the vehicle of Kipa, the organization said and demanded exemplary punishment to the miscreant.

Expressing concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the Capital, the organization further said that the home department should chalk out strategy to deal with the anti-social elements and to ensure safety and security of the common people.

Free Ayurveda Medical Consultation Camp

ITANAGAR, Oct 4: Santhigiri Ayurveda & Siddha Hospital (SASH), in association with DK Ayurveda Hospital conducted its fifth free Ayurveda Medical Consultation Camp for Arthritis, spinal and neurological disorders, paralysis, psofessia, back, neck and joint paint on October 2 last. Around 110 patients were benefited from the camp.

Dr. Remya and Dr. Masood Alam from Assam attended the camp.

The hospital authority has also planned to conduct such free consultative camp in village and in the hospital every month for the benefit of the people as well as to create awareness among people about Ayurvedic system of treatment.

Training programme for farmers

ITANAGAR, Oct 4: Anne Donyi Society conducted day-long training programme for farmers on agriculture under Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Yupia at Youth Hostel Naharalgun on October 2 last.

Resource persons Tadang Meena Dirchi, subject matter specialist (Agronomy) and Hemanta Ngaghum, SMS (Horticulture) of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Papum Pare imparted knowledge on various ways and means of agricultural methods for better farming and protection. Both resource persons advised the farmers for innovative ideas for preservation of vegetables and other eatable items.

Secretary of the society Tadar Amin highlighted about the training programme and its important in the development of agriculture sector. He urged the participants to disseminate the knowledge they have gained in the training programme to their co farmers.

Associations formed

ITANAGAR, Oct 4: A new association in the name of Save Arunachal Youth Association (SAYA) was formed with Taba Basu and Langbia Kasa as president and general secretary respectively.

Another organization, namely Arunachal Pradesh Unemployed People’s Organization was formed with Bijay Rimo, Taba Mohan and Mohan Techi as president, vice president and general secretary respectively.

Condolence

ITANAGAR, Oct 4: All Tagin Students’ Union (ATSU) deeply mourned the sudden and untimely demise of its former president Kobu Mengnia Dabu on September 27 last and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.

He left behind his wife and a one-year-old son.

A former student of DN College, Dabu did his LLB from Shillong Law College.

His death is an irreparable loss to the Tagin community and his family in particular.

Meanwhile, Kino Welfare Society condoled the tragic death of Chohan Kino in a road accident here on October 2 last.

Son of late Bida Kino of Ningcho village, Seppa, Kino was a BA III year student of DNG College.

The society described Kino’s death as great loss for the society. The members in a condolence meeting observed 2 minutes silence as a mark of respect to late Kino and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.

“Kino took active part in various students’ movement of the state. His death is a great loss to East Kameng Middle Zone Students’ Union (EKMZSU) in general and his family in particular, said EKMZSU.

The students union prayed to almighty for the departed soul and conveyed heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family.

ADC clarifies

ITANAGAR, Oct 4: The office of the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Seijosa is not charging Rs 9000 for provisional land possession certificate as alleged by Pakke Kessang Youth Forum (PKYF) recently, said ADC Tayek Pado in a release today.

Reacting to the allegation published in a section of local dailies that ADC is charging exorbitant fee for furnishing the necessary documents like ST (Rs.150), PRC (Rs.100), and temporary land possession certificate (Rs.9000), the ADC further clarified that collection of normal fees ranging from Rs 50 to 150 for PRC and ST certificates etc has been followed long back before his joining as ADC Seijosa to meet up expenditure on meetings, visit of prominent personalities and officials and other unforeseen expenditure as the office has no fund for such matters. He went to add: such nominal fees are neither imposed upon the public nor charged against their will, rather it is based on their acceptance. As a matter of fact, such nominal fees are not compulsory and not collected from persons who cannot afford it.

Regarding relief to the landslide victim, it was clarified that ADC office had already provided immediate relief assistance to the victim of landslide that occurred near Seijosa Hospital on August 22. Moreover, ADC office is not dealing with the payment of old age pension and therefore, no question of deduction of old age pension.

Like any other Govt offices, ADC office is also for the welfare of the public. Therefore, steps will be taken to solve genuine demands/suggestions of the public keeping in view of the convenience and welfare of the public, the release said.

Committee resents MoU’s with power developers

ITANAGAR: Subansiri Upper Basin Affected People Committee while taking strong exception to the reckless signing of MOU by the Government with various power developers, has opposed the six upcoming mega dams within Nacho assembly constituency in a single river at one go. The dams might create havoc in the area in event of any eventuality like earthquakes since the area is vulnerable to nature’s fury, it said.

VOA enters Elimination round

ITANAGAR: The first (elimination) round of Voice of Arunachal (VoA) was held at Naharlagun on October 2 last. The programme was attended by Chayang Tajo MLA Karya Bagang as chief guest, who assured all cooperation from her side as well as by urging Government to extend help to the organizing committee for conduct of the singing talent hunt.

ANSU general secretary Arjun Panye attended the programme as guest of honour.

Earlier, the programne began with lighting of lamp by Arunachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board chairman Jalley Sonam. Sonam appealed to the people to watch the programme through their TV sets which would be telecast DDK, Itanagar.

A competitor would be eliminated in each round, Information and Publicity Secretary Runka Cheda said, adding that SMS is being introduced for the first time in the contest to choose the favourite singer.

The elimination rounds would be held in every Saturday.

Fake B.Ed certificate

Dear Editor,

Operation B.Ed would be carried out to check, detect and list out all the fake B.Ed certificate holders, already in-service and appearing candidates for senior teacher (ST). We want to alarm the concerned department to rectify and correct their wrong deeds, or else very soon the names of all B.Ed fake certificate holders will be disclosed through RTI Act with 100 percent proofs. We therefore gently request the STs with fake certificate to resign from their jobs for their own self respect and to avoid further complications. We also question the concerned authority, for letting the fake certificates to find their way. We ask the persons engaged and in-charge of scrutiny of certificates not to continue this kind of habit. Failing to perform their duty might invite them to stand before the law of justice.

The unaffordable fees

Dear Editor,

This is in reference to the letter “The Unaffordable Tuition Fees” by Lee Kin July, Itanagar.

Really it is disheartening to know that the private tutors are charging exorbitant tuition fee from the children. Many poor parents can’t afford private tuition even if they want to because of unaffordable fees.

Nowhere else in India will anyone find that tutors are charging a fee of Rs 4000-5000 per subject. It is a distant dream for poor parents who earn Rs 1000 rupees in a month. Everybody knows, now a day’s education in the government school is not up to the mark. We want our children to cover up wholes everything in the text books so they can clear the examination.

Not only this, mushrooming of tuition centers in the capital complex has also become a cause of concern. There is also speculation whether the tutor of these institutions are qualified teachers. In some instances, Children do not obtain good marks in the school and some even fail in the particular subject taught in the tuition centers. Hence the view of Lee Kin Jully is appreciated.

In your Oct' 2 edition, Readers Forum one Lee Kin July rightly endorsed that the tuition fee charged by teachers are the highest in India.

The teachers are supposed to teach free of cost anywhere in Arunachal Pradesh if he /she is a salaried Govt. Teacher. There is no bar if it is in school or at the teacher’s house no matter. The wrong is lying with not only the Govt. or teachers but with parents. There are thousands of literate unemployed youths in the twin capital Naharlagun and Itanagar who are far more dedicated and sincere than some of the Govt.school teachers. Engaging them as tutors, you will not only get the best service within affordable fees but also will keep a youth engaged. The other problem lies with the Govt. It makes laws and break it right way. For example, a Govt. teacher is suppose to be transferred after 3 years of service from a particular posting place. It is the rules made by the Govt. But is it really so? The teachers posted in state capital and District HQs are never transferred. If any DDSE dare to touch , the local MLAs/Ministers come to their rescue undermining the rules they framed in state Assembly. As for the tuition fee, there is an standing order that no Govt. Teacher can take tuition in Arunachal Pradesh, but where is Non-Tuition Allowance?

What have been done to Govt. school of the state capital teachers who are being engaged in different private schools shift wise after they have attended their regular duty of 2/3 periods in their schools.

If such teachers are transferred to any other schools they have their own way. So it is my suggestion that if you are engaging Govt. School teacher as tuition teacher and pay more, it is you fault and if you're engaging any unemployed youth God will bless you.

Make good use of funds

Dear Editor,

This is regarding government’s proposal to develop Itanagar as solar city. I really want the government not to waste the fund allocated by the central government as it was done in creation of Energy Park near APEDA campus which was built after spending crores of rupees, which is no more taken care of. As the wiring network of capital complex is already well developed it will be better to maintain the power supply rather by improving the grid connectivity or improving the available power stations and redirecting the solar projects to far flung areas where laying of electric networks are still distant dream.
